Desert Ridge HOA
News and Updates – February 2025 Greetings Neighbors! Here I am writing the Desert Ridge News and Updates, a familiar job I must say! I’m happy to be back on the Board and I look forward to seeing many of you again and getting to know some of our newer neighbors! I’m excited to be back for a couple reasons, Number one is all the people “on the Ridge”. We have a great group of neighbors who are friendly, watch out for and help one another out. Two, it’s safe to argue that we have one of the best looking HOA’s in Green Valley! Recent landscaping changes over the past two years along with other maintenance improvements have made it the envy of many HOA’s – we’ve heard that! I speak for other new Board members as well, we’re happy to serve and be a part of the Desert Ridge board of directors. As the new Board gets organized, we’ll be contacting all standing committees to get a list of their current volunteer members. All our committee’s welcome new volunteers. What better way to get to know folks and help your HOA. Two standing committees that need co-chairs now are the Nominating Committee and the Budget Committee. Please consider this and if interested, call Mike or any of our Board members. - Maintenance – The maintenance Crew have been hard at work and will be finishing up the last two remaining hillside rocking projects. They recently finished the walkway along the east entrance and the adjacent spillway. Both projects turned out wonderful, the sidewalk makes for much safer walking along that area. Thanks David Ward and the crew! The high dollar projects are now completed, and nothing is in the picture for those kinds of expenditures in the immediate future. To illustrate pride in our HOA, did you know that over the past 3 years, Owners have invested $38,000 (of their own money) in landscaping for common areas around and behind their property (rocking, planting etc). Also, thank you to our volunteers who spray weeds, help move rocks and paint utility boxes too! - Streets – We recently conducted a street inspection with our paving company, Sundland Asphalt. They again assured us that our streets (because of previous maintenance) are in very good shape. They advise a crack and curb sealing along with a seal coat and striping in 2027. They offer a High grade seal coat that should last 5 to 7 years and offers the best protection. Continued vigilant maintenance should give us another 15 to 20 years before a complete street restructure is necessary. - Social – The Social Committee reported that the spring Block Party will be held April 10th, 2025 at the usual Desert Canyon location so be sure to mark your calendar. We will be having a food truck and music by Ken Daulton (same as fall party). The committee is also exploring ideas for an Octoberfest themed block party for next October. . Thirsty Thursday will be held this Thursday, February 20th at 724 W Desert Hills Drive. Conrad and Maureen Toni will host this event. The March Thirsty Thursday will be held at Michael and Judy Hudson at 784 W Desert Hills Dr. Please Remember Neighbors helping Neighbors. If you know of someone who might need a meal or two, a ride to get prescriptions or a trip to the doctor, please let Cindy Hubbard know at (701) 205 7726. - Other news – We have received notification from Green Valley Water that the “blue postcard” billing is going away and will be replaced by a full-page billing statement along with a return envelope so watch for that change. If you receive your billing via email, nothing will change That’s all for now! See you on the Ridge! For the Desert Ridge Board Mike Hubbard - President
