Hello Neighbors!
Allow me to wish each and every one of you a blessed holiday season and time with family and friends as your situation may allow. May we also all have safe travels! At this morning’s monthly board meeting, I was not able to announce our slate of nominees yet for the new members of the HOA board of directors, but I am happy to report that I now can. We have had three volunteers step forward who will appear on your ballot in January, and they are Cindy Hubbard, Bill Keim and Mike Hubbard. Assuming they are affirmed in February at our annual meeting, they will be joining our two board members who each have one more year in their terms, John Morgan and Mike Cochran. After the annual meeting, the five of them will meet to decide who will serve which role on the board. Representing the nominating committee, Jan Morgan and I want to thank everyone who considered our call to serve, but especially these three individuals who have now stepped forward. Thank you, Cindy, Bill and Mike! This morning we also announced the time and place of our Annual Meeting in February, namely Tuesday, February 11th at 3pm with refreshments and socializing for a half hour in advance. The meeting will take place in the auditorium of Desert Hills Center. This will also be your last opportunity to return your ballot (which you’ll receive from your block captain in January) if you choose not to return it to the ballot box on my patio. I also had the unpleasant task of reporting a theft of HOA property, namely the three reindeer that were gracing our east entrance. Should you happen to hear rumors of someone who made off with our reindeer, please report it to the police who have received and recorded our incident report. Or you can tell someone on the board so we can follow up! A real pity as they were newly donated by members of our sign and decoration committee. It was reported at the meeting that turning onto Camino Encanto from Desert Ridge Drive can be a real hazard due to bad sight lines. We are in the process of reporting this hazard to the county to request vegetation management, the cutting back of shrubs and bushes that are obstructing everyone’s vision of traffic coming up Camino Encanto. I encourage all of us to report it in order to get some action on the problem before an accident happens! I hope this link might work! If not, on the GVC website (gvcouncil.org) go to “community partners” and under Pima County click on “roadways and pavement maintenance”. You’ll go straight to the Pima City website and on the left toolbar click on “Report a Problem / Submit a Request”, we want to report Vegetation Management. For the location, type in “Camino Encanto & Desert Ridge Dr, Green Valley, AZ 85622”. If you want to join the report already submitted, please “Follow” so we get a critical mass! https://seeclickfix.com/web_portal/YPmE1nsavqFE5pEWaSSPcppe/report/category/23739/location The board also approved three projects for 2025 which should complete all the rocking work we’ve been doing for the past 3-4 years. Our treasurer John Morgan also put together a detailed report concerning our reserve fund and how funds have been used over the past 9 years. It provides excellent information and also provides insight into what projects may be in our future as an HOA with regard to our roads in the coming decades. We will include this report with the minutes from this month’s board meeting soon. It will be posted on the website. The board has been very pleased with the work the maintenance committee has done these past years to secure our hills and to prevent further erosion and damage to our roads. We are hopeful a complete mill and fill will not be necessary for many years to come, only seal coats and general minor repairs. Thank you, John, for all this excellent work, and maintenance and streets committees for all your work! We also had a good report from our HOA Representative, Jan Morgan, to the Green Valley Council Board of Representatives meeting. If you are not yet receiving the GVC’s emails with announcements of events going on in the area, you can sign up by writing to this email: [email protected]. Sue Tinnin is in charge of Communications for the GVC and she will add you to their e-mailing list. I think you will find the information very helpful, it is NOT spam! Best regards, Ruth Ruth Krawczyk, President Desert Ridge HOA
